A Bitumen Flexitank is a specific type of packaging designed for bitumen and liquid petrochemicals. It is suitable for containing non-corrosive and non-hazardous liquid products.
Its cost-effectiveness and environmentally friendly nature have contributed to its popularity across various industries. Unlike steel drums and IBC containers, a Flexitank offers a larger capacity for storing bitumen.
The Flexitank comes in single and multi-layer thick bag variations. The number of valves determines its type, which can range from single valve to two valves.
In terms of weight, Flexitanks have a capacity of 14,000 to 24,000 liters, fitting well within a 20-foot container. However, for transporting bitumen using a Flexitank, each unit can hold up to 20 tons of bitumen per 20-foot container.
It's essential to note that Flexitanks cannot be used in 40-foot containers because the Flexitank must be shielded on all four sides by the container's body.
Standard Flexitanks are manufactured using materials like polyethylene and polypropylene. These materials are capable of withstanding hot liquids, even those exceeding 120 degrees Celsius.
The construction of this packaging ensures durability, displaying resistance to the pressure exerted by the contained liquid on the internal layer of the Flexitank. This material quality safeguards the body from damage during the loading of molten bitumen. It also simplifies the filling and removal processes without causing any issues.
